Indoor air quality |
Environmental Protection Agency studies have shown that the air inside our homes and workplaces is often 10-100 times more polluted than outside air. Harmful airborne pollutants such as dust, pollen, mold, viruses, bacteria, pet dander, carpet fibers, and second-hand smoke are constantly being recirculated and inhaled while indoors. According to the EPA, a person breathes in 2 teaspoons of these pollutants each day. This can result in harmful health conditions such as allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems.
CTEM offers several different types of products to help reduce these contaminants and help you to breathe easier. Media air filters both mechanical and electronic will keep your family healthy and reduce allergy symptoms. Humidifiers come in a standard flow thru model from general aire and in a steam model from EWC, a humidifier will help boost the moisture content in the air in those dry winter months. UV lights are a new technology you may not be familiar with but they are very effective at killing microscopic bacteria and germs which can thrive inside of a cool, dark duct system. Finally, HRV’s or heat recovery ventilators, are fresh air ventilation units that bring fresh outdoor air into your home but they save energy by preconditioning the air with the air the unit rejects from the home through the use of a non contact heat exchanger.
